Visual Astrology
Visual Astrology is a way of working with the whole sky on the day you were born. Its roots lie in the very origins of astrology when the sky was mapped and the movement of stars and planets were watched for signs of change and information about births. With the translation of some of the Mesopotamian clay tablets now in modern language, the Visual Astrology Newsletter (VAN) explores how these visual indications continue to inform the world around us today.
Visual Astrology is made up of three parts: firstly, learning to look at the whole sky on the day you were born; secondly, learning the meaning of how the planets move amongst the stars; and thirdly, the mythological meanings of the individual fixed stars. All of this information sits under your horoscope and informs the way you read a chart.
It may sound complicated. However, to put it simply, you are going to add a lot more images to your chart along with their myths, both ancient neolithic stories along with more modern themes.

What are Fixed Star Natal Parans?
A question which we are often asked is: What are parans?
Parans are a way of combining the meanings of the fixed stars with the planets as they were originally combined which is visually. Due to the rotation of the earth on its axis, the stars and planets will appear to move in the sky travelling from rising, to culminating, to setting, and then to rising again. This movement is called diurnal movement, and one complete circle gives us, of course, one day. Certain stars during the course of a day will also rise over the horizon and, at some stage of their diurnal movement later in the day, will culminate, set, and then travel over the nadir. Planets that rise at the same time as a star rises, so that both are on the line of the horizon at the same time, are considered to be connected. They are called parans and are said to influence the meaning of each other. So a star is said to be in paran with a planet when the planet is on any of the four points of rising, culminating, setting, or on the nadir, and at the same moment in time, for that location, the star is also on ANY of the same four angles or points.
